Hydration: How To Do It Effectively?

How many liters of water do you drink during the day? – this is the standard question you will hear in a doctor’s office. No wonder, because hydrating the body is crucial to our health, well-being and beauty. Thanks to water, our skin is more radiant and ages later, our body works more efficiently, and we feel lighter and have more energy.

But will drinking a certain amount of fluids do the trick? It’s not that easy, but here are some tricks that should become your daily habit.

First: awareness

This is where it all begins, so realize how water has a beneficial effect on your body and well-being. Dehydration is bad for virtually every organ, including the kidneys, liver, stomach, and lungs as it slows down the delivery of oxygen to the brain. As a matter of fact, note that when you are dehydrated, you tire faster and you have to concentrate longer on the task at hand. Yes, it’s really because of the water. Or rather, the lack of it.

Second: thirst

How do you know if you are dehydrated? First of all: you feel thirsty. The moment you feel thirsty, your body is at the end of its endurance. Besides, you may get headaches, you become sleepy. So how do you prevent people from reaching for their drinks at the last moment? It’s best to make a habit. Admit it yourself that when you are in the throes of work, reaching for a glass of water is the last thing you think about. However, if the jug is lying next to you, you will automatically reach for it for several hours.

Third: warm water

Boiled, warm (not hot) water irrigates your body much faster, because it needs about 1.5 hours to do so, while cold water – about three times as much. In addition, hot water goes to places in your body that the cold cannot reach. Ayurvedic specialists recommend that you start the day with water, because it will not only moisturize your body after the night, but also help it cleanse itself of toxins. Warm water is also recommended after meals as it dissolves fats and prevents intestinal deposits. (Unlike cold water, which traps fats and makes digestion difficult).

Even if this did not encourage you to switch cold drinks, you should know that boiled water will also help you fight free radicals. Thanks to it, the skin will be more elastic. It will also strengthen your hair by energizing the bulbs and moisturizing the scalp, which in turn helps fight dandruff.

Fourth: add-ons

Water, not juices (full of sugar), is the key to perfect hydration. If you need to enhance the flavor with something, choose herbs or fruit. After intense exercise, it is best to drink water with Himalayan salt and lemon; coconut water replenishes electrolytes, and an infusion of ginger, coriander and fennel will hydrate and retain water in the body. Water with orange, mint, lime or lemon will be useful when you need refreshment, and the one with rosemary will not only provide a unique taste sensation, but also have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, so it will be perfect for colds. Okay, but how much water will be the optimal amount for our body? It is assumed that 1-2 liters of water per day will be adequate. Ayurveda, on the other hand, advises storing boiled water in a copper vessel as it kills microbes. However, remember to be careful and check the amounts for which you, your body and skin feel best. As in everything – and drinking water can be overdone. Drinking more than 3 liters of water and this in short intervals may cause poisoning, the symptoms of which are: headaches, nausea or confusion.
